What to say? In a tense match featuring breaks and break backs by both players Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer when Federer missed a Nadal return during a second set tiebreaker. I was watching on Tennis Channel. They did not show a replay of match point. They showed everything that happened afterwards but not the miss. It is on YouTube.
By making the final Rafa returned to #2 in the world. He also earned his 18th Masters Shield and won three Masters titles in a row. He's 23 years old.

In a stunning display of power hitting Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai blew Venus Williams off the court with a straight set no holds bar win over the legend. Aravane got on my radar last year when she protested her opponents screaming. Her results hadn't been that good until she hit the high altitude clay courts of Madrid. Assumed to be cannon fodder she began her week by mopping the floor with Henin and ended it by doing the same to Venus. Anyone who tells you she was their pick to win is lying pure and simple.

Wearing the K-Swiss version of the Nike kit Bob and Mike Bryan won the Men's Doubles crown and regained the number one doubles ranking. They also tied the all time record by logging their 61st win.
