If Federer had Djokovic, Davydenko and Soderling on his side, wouldn't the claim have been that the draw was fixed? If so, why isn't it fixed now?
I dunno Rabbit. Each group has a newbie. Verdasco is said to have a foot injury. Soderling is said to have something wrong with his arm (shoulder?)
Both Alpha dogs have had trouble with the other players in their sections including the newbies.
The only difference would be if Andy Roddick had played. Would he have been in The A group and Verdasco in the B group?
I've seen lots of talk about Murray having a "brutal" draw which surprises me though. How do you feel about that?
I don't see your logic rabbit. Djokovic seems to me like the biggest threat to win this tournament, the way he has been playing. OTOH, Murray is coming off an injury, Verdasco has a foot injury for which he has been putting off required surgery, and delPo has been injured as well. So just why is it that you feel the draws are so unequal?
Helen_W, I never said that I felt the draws were unequal. What I was saying was that had Davydenko and Soderling fallen on Federer's side, I think there would definitely be claims that the drawing was engineered, because of Federer's record against them. (Djokovic on Federer's side would also have provoked such claims before Basel, I think.) But of course, we'll never know what would have been claimed. It was just my perception.
Personally, I agree with Savannah, that there are very problematic matchups for both of the top seeds on the two sides.
