I just really appreciate your take on things- you are a very smart tennis fan and there are not many Americans who want to see more of Pennetta. I love it! You know she's Moya's girl, don't you?

I write this email from Buenos Aires, where I just spent the day at the Vilas Tennis Club. There he was, Vilas, with his poet's beret, standing next to me, checking his phone.

THEN! Coria took the court that my sons' were playing one - he's not in Indian Wells, pobre. But what a moment for my family....

Your fellow clay court tennis geek-
paulapaulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17835359812571720096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-757702474597183495.post-68999074567132911452008-03-17T07:49:00.000-05:002008-03-17T07:49:00.000-05:00Paula I apologize for taking so long to post your ...Paula I apologize for taking so long to post your comment. I haven't been feeling well lately and this is my first visit to the blog in over a week.

Some snazzy picture you have there.

We clay court geeks have to stick together! Our time is up next! Enough with mindless ball bashing!Savannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15079111598976360942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-757702474597183495.post-73050029393537325822008-03-10T16:40:00.000-05:002008-03-10T16:40:00.000-05:00Thanks for your amazing tip on how to see events o...Thanks for your amazing tip on how to see events on other ESPN channels! Wow! I would have LOVED to see Acapulco.

I thought the Dementieva v. Schiavone and Dementieva v. Kuznetsova were two really fun matches.

I think it so cool that you love clay court tennis. Me, too. As a former resident of Spain and Argentina, clay court season is my favorite time of year- first in South America, and then later with Monte Carlo, Rome, Barcelona, etc...

One thing I want to point out- when my husband got off a plane in Moscow, a HUGE picture of Dementieva stared him down. He was psyched! Moscow is the most expensive City in the World. Being a huge star in Russia is no joke and Leni is a huge star there. I do feel for Kuznetsova a little- she isn't as "fancy looking" and I'm sure she doesn't get all the endorsements that Leni does. But- I don't think she's miserable and bitter about it. She has a lot of joy in her personality.

Pennetta, too, is very big in Italy, Spain, etc...(and even though I'd like to see more of her, she might not be interested in being an American star, very likely...)

What I do lament with you is the lack of good coverage for events that Americans don't care about so much. I feel that is the huge problem. I am, after all, someone who wrote about Mahut v. Gabashvili once extensively. But your average American doesn't even KNOW who they are! But, hey, tennis geek status is its own thing.

And kudos for getting behind the Dav, the new mom, playing good tennis. I agree that the "media" isn't interested in her, in others that don't fit some "look", but I can say for certain that Lindsay Davenport is not interested in the media, either. Some people don't want that life! And that's fine. I respect those choices...not that its totally up to them, how "media darling-esque" they are.paulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17835359812571720096noreply@blogger.com
