In addition I think he is just burned out. Maybe this 2 month break will bring back a renewed hunger to his game. It does not help that the injuries are now beginning to show in his game. Pity.

As for the IW women's final, man I felt sorry for poor Woz after awhile. There was just nothing she could do. I really thought she would have been able to pull out the win in 3 tough sets, but it was not to be. I was OK ...I watched a fair amount of Indian Wells. I was OK with the WTA final given that it featured one player I'm not a fan of beatting the heck out of another player I'm even less a fan of.

I'm good w/Sharapova hitting huge groundies - it was worth watching - but I just wish she would stop shrieking. And I wish too that she would get over her fear of the net. There were a number of points where an all-court player would have come in and finished the point, but you could see her backing off each time.

As for the men's final, nothing against Nadal, but I enjoyed seeing Delpo beat Djokovic and was ready for more of the same. Unfortunately Nadal seems a bad matchup for Delpo because, uh, well, Nadal is better. I do wonder if Delpo would have had enough legs left to beat Nadal if they had met in the semis rather than in the final, but who knows. It may not be a function of legs but of heart.

As for Berdych, Tsonga, and Federer needing to look themselves in the mirror & figure out where they are at - I think Berdych has pushed himself to get better & grudgingly I admire him for that - but I think his biggest obstacle is a one-dimensional game that I don't see changing. Tsonga, I don't know about & I suspect no one will ever know about. And Federer? Federer suddenly seems to be getting old fast.
